Tumblr Is Officially the Mack of Microblogs

About two hours ago, Tumblr joined the ranks of Quantcast's top 50 U.S. sites — another win in a string of victories the microblog platform has had this year alone. So why is Tumblr on fire? Maybe it's because that's where big media's been setting up shop. Or perhaps it's due to the fact that they attract top talent. Our guess is that it has something to do with how easy it is to share the love through likes and reblogs. But whatever the reason, we've got a feeling the best is yet to come for David Karp and company.

Ruhrohblogging?

Those who feel the need to shoehorn everything under the sun into a neat little category can't seem to figure out where Tumblr fits in — it's too small for blogging and too big for microblogging. So what is it (besides just right)? A threat, apparently. Ruh-roh....

Microblogging: Where does Buzz Fit In?

Check out this great article from Noa Gafni over on her blog Webutantes. It brings up some interesting facts around the recent surge in microblogging. She poses the question "Where Does Buzz Add Value?" Google executive Bradley Horowitz said, “It’s not just status-casting. It’s not just checking in. It’s really meaningful interactions around meaningful topics within Buzz and it’s reaching the right audience and people are engaged." Are you using Buzz in this way? Think it will just become like every other status message? Has it changed your perception?
